Movie Research: Us
Hey y'all! Today I will be researching and analyzing the movie 'Us' directed by Jordan Peele:
- What conventions of the genre that you chose to base your final task on does this movie have?
The conventions of this genre that I chose to base my final task on are the non-diegetic/diegetic sounds, dark lighting, and props. When I watched this movie I looked for all of the conventions that I may need to include in my final task opening sequence. This was a easy task since this is my favorite movie.
- What conventions of the genre did the movie have that you liked?
Throughout the movie, there was use of a lot of non-diegetic sounds. One of the beginning scenes of the movie includes a wide shot of bunnies in their cages and an interesting choice of background music. I feel like that scene created a weird vibe for the audience, almost building the suspense and curiosity for the movie. Additionally, I loved how the costumes of the "Untethered" characters looked creepy and the use of dark lighting.
- What conventions of the genre did the movie have that did not appeal to you and you are thinking of not filming for your final task?
This movie included a fighting scene towards the end and that did not appeal to me. I am thinking of not including any type of fighting in my movie because I want it hold more of it's suspense aspect. I do not think including a fight scene will convey what I want to towards the audience.
Bye, Pookiees!
