Common CAMS in the genre

  • Long shots- shows the overall setting/what it looks like
  • Panning- indicates the character is being followed
  • Low angle- give off weak emotions to the audience/emphasize how another character is powerful
  • Birds Eye View- character appears to look powerless/vulnerable
  • Tilted Angle- heightens stress/tension to the screen

Common CLAMPS in the genre

  • Costumes usually include a character with dark clothing and white clothing
  • Lighting usually uses darker tones in the lighting
  • Makeup could be used to show bruises after an accident or make a character look more like an antagonist
  • Props are used for a plethora of things like blood or weapons

Common Editing in your genre

  • Flashbacks/forwards
  • slow/fast motion
  • Repetitions
  • freeze frames

Common Sound in your genre

  • Non-diegetic Sound  (sound getting more high pitched/louder makes the scene become more tense)
  • Diegetic Sounds (footsteps, banging, or screaming.)

  • Missing directed by Nicholas D. Johnson and Will Merrick
  • Lou directed by Anna Foerster

What elements of the genre that you like and would use if this was your genre?

If this was my genre, I would use the diegetic sounds like footsteps or banging, the different editing techniques and the titled angle when filming. Although, for the most part, I would enjoy use all of these different elements of this mystery genre.

What elements of the genre do not appeal to you, and you would not use if this was your genre.

I do not think there are any elements of this genre that do not appeal to me and that I would not use if it was my genre.
